Technical Meeting - Nov'17

posted Nov 9, 2017, 5:30 PM by IMA IE Web

Rancho Cucamonga, CA, November 1, 2017 – The IMA®  Inland Empire Chapter is proud to announce our November Technical Meeting. The next meeting will take place on Thursday November 16th, 2017.

This month we welcome Matthew Wilson, Partner with Wilson Ivanova Certified Public Accountants, Inc. Matthew will be updating us on the new Revenue Recognition Standard.

The FASB issued an Accounting Standards Update (ASU) deferring the effective date of the new revenue recognition standard to annual reporting periods beginning after December 15,2017. That's next month! Presently GAAP has complex, detailed, and disparate revenue recognition requirements for specific transactions and industries. As a result, different industries have used different accounting for economically similar transactions. So what does the new standard mean for you and your company?

 This presentation will address:

 •           What's the big deal with the new standard?

           Overview of the new standard.

Key provisions & the impact areas for your company.

Practical considerations and challenges to systems

 About the speaker

Matthew has been serving privately help companies since 1995 and has extensive experience providing accounting and consulting services to the manufacturing and construction industries. He is the Past President of the Inland Empire chapter of CalCPA and chair of the Accounting Advisory board at Cal State San Bernardino. Matthew also serves as part time professor for CSUSB, teaching auditing and reporting.
